BlackBerry Surrender. Can't compete with IOS or Android.

BlackBerry has raised their white flag and acknowledged that they just can't compete with Apple and Android. The brutal market for consumer smartphones has forced BlackBerry to shift their focus towards business consumer market. This is due to individual consumer prefers devices with access to the broadest number of applications, such as those available in the iOS and Android environments. As part of the change, the company is reducing its smartphone portfolio from six devices to four  (two high-end devices and two more-affordable models).

Waterproof iPhone is not a prank?

Unlike the Sony Xperia Z and Galaxy S4 Active, the iPhone originally isn’t waterproof. There was a prank circulating on the net that claims that the iPhone will be waterproof when you update the OS to IOS 7. The fake ad said that the emergency shut off feature of the IOS 7 will be triggered when the phone is submerge into water. This will prevent any damage to the iPhone’s circuitry. Though the ad is fake, the waterproof iPhone is not fake when it is coupled with waterproof case like Atlas Incipio or OtterBox, the iPhone could be submerged under water  and users can use their camera to capture underwater images. Another way to make it waterproof is by applying protective coating like what Liquipel offered.

BitTorrent is Legal? Back into the Google Search Suggestions

BitTorrent is a form of P2P (peer to peer) file sharing protocol that uses a swarm-like approach to file sharing. Due to how Google deals with infringement, BitTorent was once block by Google search engine's auto-complete suggestions. But now if you type "bitt", the "bittorent" pops up again.

BitTorent works by splitting large files into hundreds of small bit of files and then sharing those bits across a "swarm" of dozens of linked users. The advantage of torrents is that the users themselves do the actual file serving. The torrents ensures that downloads contain only what they claim to contain by filtering out corrupted and dummy files. Its never been illegal for people to use torrent for example to download Linux distribution software or to download virtual machine for VMware. Music, movies or video games can also be legal since many indie bands and game developer are willing to distribute their works for free just to be heard rather than being ignored. Torrents becomes illegal when their distribution did not receive the owners permission.

Malaysia Fuel Price Hike & Fuel Saving Technology

Whether you are the policy maker or just plain citizens, Genxytech believe that it just tough to announce or hear any price hike. Currently Malaysia is facing a fuel price hike for the first time since 2010. The price of the  RON 95 rise from MYR1.90 to MYR2.10 ($0.64) whereas the diesel increase MYR0.20 to MYR2 a liter. Let's leave the fuel price increase issues aside for a while and have a look at top 5 fuel saving technologies in 2013.

5. Multistage Oil Pump
Only pumps oil as just what the engine needs.
Total savings: 1%

4. CVTs and DCTs
Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) is a transmission that can change steplessly through an infinite number of effective gear ratios between maximum and minimum values.
Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) is a type of semi-automatic or automated manual automotive transmission.
Total savings: 6-7%

3. Active Cylinder Management
Shut down  cylinder when they are not needed.
Total savings: 7.5%

2. Brake Regeneration
Recharge battery by harnessing kinetic energy of a vehicle when coasting or braking instead of always driving draggy alternator with a belt. Less drag on the engine means better efficiency.
Total savings: 8%

1. Clean Diesel
Get a lot more energy at each drop of a fuel.
Total savings: 30-35%

Tanker Spills Diesel in KL & Selangor and Exoskeleton Powered Suit

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 31, 2013): A tanker overturned spilling diesel into Sungai Selangor yesterday, forcing the closure of four treatment plants which supply water to a sizable number of consumers in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

It has been a difficult day for all effected area that has no water supply due to the overturned spilling diesel in Sungai Selangor. Urgent need for a water supply might lead us to search for natural water source such as air bukit' (hill water), waterfall or even air telaga. For more fortunate area, there might be mobile water tankers passing by. Though the water source is there, it is very tiring to transport all the big and heavy water containers with the limited human strength. Talking about strength, researchers has begun to develop suit that might turns you into a super human.  A powered exoskeleton suit might be the next generation solution to boost human strength and endurance.

Merdeka, Fire Works and Alarm

Today is the 56th year Malaysia commemorating its Hari Merdeka (Independence Day). Persekutuan Tanah Melayu (Federation of Malaya) received their independence from British Colonial on the 31st August 1957. In celebrating this big event, it is incomplete without the flashy and the heavy sound of the massive fire works usually take place at 12 am. However, the powerful sound of the fire works sometimes can trigger the alarm system installed in a car or building. One of the key reason that cause an alarm to be triggered is the sensors inside the alarm system. Common alarm system use pressure sensors and motion detectors. The shock from the fire works sound would triggers these sensors. To overcome this type of false alarm, an advanced sensors that send different information depending on the severity of a shock has been design by Randall Woods. By using this sensor, a warning horn beep or the full-scale alarm can be triggered by different shock force.

Genxytech: Smartphones and tablets being offered to children might be far more interactive experience than  having children in front of TV being a couch potato. However, parents/adults have to educate children on when they can use the device and also the content that they are viewing.
